I See The Moon And The Moon Sees Me!

Posted on August 30, 2012 | 3 comments

Being home is rather complicated right now we are in a place in between Boston and Vienna and we will be for quite a while still perhaps a few months since my husband leaves to return to work in a bit over a month. He will finish his contract there which will take about 2 months and he will return to Boston. We will then have hopefully a lovely Christmas together and really begin at that point to establish ourselves and build our lives here at that point.

The moon, viewed through our giant Orion Telescope outside on our back porch. It feels good to be home to re-unite with our things and with nature.

The First Window Box Of The Back Porch Garden

So, a few days back we planted a big thyme in a window box, as well as some seeds for several different things. I have been looking at that poor thyme for days shaking my head sadly, as it looked so alone. I waited a couple of days and then I started begging the seeds to grow after that I tried bargaining with the seeds offering them all manner of things if they would just grow big and tall to keep my thyme company. It didn’t work. A couple days ago I finally resorted to making idle threats. I threatened to dump them out all over the yard to die. (gardening is new to me I am not quite sure how to do it yet….) My threats seem to have worked. Check it out!

Finally! The beginning of my garden begins to sprout! Hooray!

The Little One Cried, “Weeweewee,” All The Way Home

Posted on August 22, 2012

We arrived in Boston just a few days ago. We didn’t have internet access though till yesterday. Chaos ensues. But we are really happy to be home. I am busy busy, cleaning house, and trying to organize what of our stuff is already out of storage while we are slowly acquiring pieces of furniture we no longer own so that we can unpack the rest while we wait for the remainder of our stuff from Vienna, to reach us. We won’t hold our breath though to get the stuff from Vienna. It should take about three more weeks till it arrives. Then I must put it away in the organizational tools I don’t have and on the furniture I don’t own….

The first window box, of what will be my large balcony pot garden. So it begins….

Dispatches From The Asylum On Schmidgasse

How tricks folks? Here has been a right looney bin today. We camped in the living room again last night with the dogs, got up very very early. Cleaned up our bed, and did the crazy stress fest before the movers arrived.

Thank you E. Fall! All boxed up.

The 411 On The Situation

Ok, here it is, for everyone wondering what is going on why has the posting become sporadic? We are moving. In 1 week myself, my husband, and our cafe dogs, get on a plane here in Vienna. We will fly for about an hour and a half to Germany, where we meet our connection and head on to Boston MA where the home we bought nearly ten years ago is waiting for us, collecting dust while we have been traveling for so long.

The Arlington House, is a two unit home, with a good sized back yard ready and waiting for some vegetable gardens and a small chicken coop, in Arlington MA, only a short distance from a lovely pond and many wonderful restaurants and minutes from Lexington MA, where the shot heard round the world was fired.

Tragedy In Milwaukee

Posted on August 5, 2012

I don’t generally blog on Sunday, and I don’t usually cover current events. Sometimes though something so serious happens, I feel I must say something… This will be short. We have just learned of the shooting in Milwaukee that has left seven people dead….. This tragedy follows on the heels of a shooting at a movie theater in Ohio that also proved deadly several times over…

Things are getting crazy here!!! The movers come in six days! So everything is getting organized, cleaned, and otherwise dealt with. Things are going to get a lot more insane before it’s over. So I beg your forgiveness as our blog which we try to keep up with may for a little while become a little sporadic. We love all our readers and we would hate to lose any of you. So stick with us! Things should even out soon. Today, I took some time out in the kitchen, to make my favorite boys something special, sometimes in the chaos it is just necessary….

Doggy Breath Mints, fresh out of the oven.

We had a lovely adventure some time ago in Prague. We saw where the Velvet Revolution happened, and took the dogs to see the Museum of Communism. They had a wonderful time.
