Lookie what I found in my last archaeological dig. A very cool old chaise lounge that looks to be in rather rough shape. For those who don’t understand the title of this post, middens, are what we call the trash dumps of ancient peoples. There is an unending amount of information we learn about those ancient people from what they threw away. I don’t have a complete education in archaeology so the only middens I dig in are the ones in my local neighborhood, the modern middens of today. And yesterday, my irregular digging came up with treasure, this old chaise lounge.
Yes, for sure my treasure is in rough shape…. But all it needs is some clean up or a new fabric covering. These chaises are rather expensive to buy. I will get mine for the cost of a cleaning, or for whatever the fabric I choose for recovering should happen to cost. I just took the cost from about $1500 down to under $200. I will first just try cleaning it since the fabric is very dirty, but I like it. It would be great if I can save it as it is.
Once I clean it up or recover it with nice pretty new fabric, I will take it with me to be sold at The Vintage Bazaar out in Salisbury on the 22nd and 23rd of June. And it will be beautiful, and will likely sell for a very good price as these kinds of lounges are not altogether common. Taking something free and turning it into a work of art or simply cleaning it up and just saving and bringing out the beauty of an old piece, priceless.
