I love what I do. With every passing day I love it more. I love keeping this blog. I love making fun and interesting new things. I enjoy every facet of designing and creating, or finding a piece of treasure that I can add onto and make even more of a specialty item, such as this old tray.
Yes, I realize this post is VERY late. I apologize. But I wanted to share a few photos of our decorations. None of it is fancy or particularly special….. It is just, special to us. This is the first Halloween since I have been home that I could decorate at all. So for me, it was very nice and so so special after so many years away.
Now that we have drunk in the salty sea air and listened to the screaming gulls while taking the dogs on a cold walk along the strand….. I want to show you my new favorite house on Plum Island. If I lived here, I would be sure to have some hot New England spiced cider ready and waiting for us upon our return from our cold walk. But this is sadly not my house, and I can’t even take you inside. I have been in once, not so long ago. The dining room is round and everything is cozy and aged. Lots of antiques crunched into a small space. On the porch, species of plants that should spend all winter dead for some magical reason thrive, and there are several cats that often go in and out. They call this house Whale Bone, and one of Newburyport’s many artists presently calls it home.
Yesterday, I left you all after we made a stop at my favorite antique shop in the area that focuses on beautiful old coastal treasures and nautical art…. Today, we are headed for one of the nicest sea strands in MA. Plum Island, is not really an island. In point of fact, it is a barrier reef. It has been developed into many tiny little old cottages and then developed further with some interesting modern monstrosities. You also have the Mcmansions of the wealthy that line the bluff along a portion of the strand. On Plum Island you will find a couple small restaurants and one inn, and some beautiful beaches.
So, here I am again, to tell you all more about the wonders of Newburyport MA. When we left off we were heading along Water Street towards Plum Island, and we were about to make a very special stop. But here, you have the river on one side and lovely old houses on the other side of the street. You pass a really strange green castle house thing along the route it has mermaid barbies out in the garden in front. Every year they go crazy putting up decorations for the different holidays. But we are going to keep walking…. Our first destination is very dear to my heart. The Nantucket Stock Exchange in Newburyport.
We recently went to Newburyport MA, one of our favorite places to help my mother rake her yard. We had a lovely time. We did many things, walked the dogs on the beach and drove around Plum Island, I dropped in on my favorite nautical themed antique shop, and we did some shopping on Main St. This is a big amount to share so I thought I would break it up and give it to you all in pieces over the next few days.
Life has been very very busy. Sorry for not updating as often as I should. But this week I had a great deal of fun setting my messy storage unit pantry to rights. A lot of stuff went to the basement and some things left for the attic. We wiped down all the old shelving with peeling paint, and then we went to town jarring and jarring and jarring………. Then came the labeling. And the end results….
