Well well well……… It felt like it took forever…. Our first chicken, the one we were convinced was a rooster, popped a few days back. Unfortunately our provider took us off line for a while for reasons I can’t even begin to understand, and this isn’t the first time either….. But now that we are back so much has been happening, that I wanted to share some of it.
I am still at that phase where I am commemorating every egg laid in photos and am tracking where each egg goes. I gave two to one of my neighbors, and two to another neighbor, five to my dad, and my husband ate several. Every time I go out to collect them from the chickens, I feel very excited. It is still so new, and so very cool. This is what we moved to the country for. To find a more natural and healthy way to live.
Since these photos were taken one of the Rhode Island Reds has also popped. So now, in addition to these beautiful white eggs we also get medium brown eggs. Hopefully by the spring we will also get some dark brown eggs too from our black chickens. Not sure what variety thy are, but they are amazing too, they are just younger than the rest and so we will have to wait longer.
Every day here on the farm I find myself happy. Everything is a new adventure from hugging the goats, to going into the chicken coop, looking for treasure in the nesting boxes. I find myself humbled by this new way of life. As I see everything living in accordance with it’s nature. Wildflower Farm, is an amazing place to live and work.
