I have been playing with candles lately. It’s really all about what I call fragrance art. I mix essential oils for all natural, and fragrance oils for less natural, to create custom fragrances. I think of it as painting a picture in aroma as a paint medium.
What I love most about this product is many of the final products look rather different as I am using a recycled vessel of some kind to pour them into. An old blue water goblet with suns and moons on it. An old jar that once held who knows what? I have been saving it till I could do this project for so long now that I forgot what it went to. Even an extra bath salts jar that I had laying about….
I love this project because it is green on multiple levels. It provides a new use for something that would end up on a trash barge polluting our oceans and killing our ocean life for one. For two, the process to make these candles is quite completely clean due to the soy wax. And lastly, when these candles are burned, they produce nothing nasty. Soy wax again is incredibly clean. And once the wax is burned to nothing, it is possible once again to re-use the container.
These candles are really really fun and being green and creative at the same time…. Nothing makes me happier.
